Seward County Finishes Fifth in National Tournament
Liberal, Kansas – After having to delay their final semifinals match twenty-four hours, the duo of Samuel Antwi and Cem Atlamis took on the doubles pairing from Cowley in a rematch from the regular season but could not get their payback as they fell to place Seward County fifth in the NJCAA National Tournament.
The first set of the match was a back-and-forth affair between the Saints and Tigers as Antwi and Atlamis fought as hard as they could to force a tiebreaker in set one with Cowley barely taking the set 6-7 (5). Seward County continued to fight in the second set to keep their season alive but could not surpass the Cowley duo as Antwi and Atlamis saw their season come to an end 4-6 in the final set of their 2024 season.
Following their final match of the season the Saints managed to place themselves firmly in fifth place to end the NJCAA National Tournament with 29 points. Tyler placed first with 46 points followed by Cowley with 44 while Eastern Florida (39) and Collin (30) wrapped up the top four. Seward County placed themselves ahead of fellow Jayhawk conference representatives in Barton who placed sixth with 28 and Pratt who finished seventh with 26.
