43 Seward County Student Athletes Earn NJCAA All¬-Academic Honors

Following the 2023-24 Academic calendar year, Seward County had 43 student-athletes recognized in the NJCAA with All-Academic honors after putting in the hard work in the classroom to keep their grades up to at least a 3.60 throughout the entire academic year.

Seward County Lady Saints basketball saw their 2023-24 season come to an end on Tuesday afternoon as they took on the Butler Grizzlies in the Quarterfinals of the Region VI Tournament where SCCCs bench scoring kept it to a one-point game entering halftime but could not stop the four seeded Butler from grabbing the win 75-58 to finish the Lady Saints’ season.

Saturday afternoon saw the Region VI Tournament kick off with Seward County taking on the Pratt Beavers where a historic night for Allie Myers helped lead the way for the Lady Saints to grab a first-round victory 56-50 over Pratt to advance to round two next week to keep their dreams of a National Tournament appearance alive.

The Lady Saints ended their 2023-24 regular season on Wednesday night as they honored their seven sophomores with a big win over the Pratt Beavers where despite falling behind by double figures entering the halftime break, superb defense and elite scoring in the fourth quarter propelled Seward County to a 67-62 win to wrap up the regular season.

Illness and injuries put the Lady Saints a few players short on their road trip to Independence, but they had more than enough to punish the Pirates as Seward County moved in front in the opening minutes and never took their foot off the gas, knocking off Independence 65-53 on the road to complete the season sweep and move back in front in the KJCCC standings.

Seward County Lady Saints basketball hit the road on Wednesday towards Colby to take on the Trojans for the second time this season where despite being shorthanded due to illness, injury, and foul trouble, SCCC was able to force overtime with the Trojans but could not capitalize as they fell on the road 73-67 to Colby.

Two of the top teams in the Jayhawk conference over the past decade faced off inside of the Green House between the Seward County Lady Saints and the #1 Ranked team in the NJCAA in the Hutchinson Blue Dragons where despite holding a small lead after the first quarter, it was all Hutchinson the rest of the game as Seward County fell 78-54 to the highest ranked team in the country.
