Aragonez Stays Close to Home Signing with OPSU

Liberal, Kansas – Seward County sharpshooter Naomi Aragonez will be close to home as she continues her college career at the four-year level, signing with Oklahoma Panhandle State University for her final two years after spending the past two knocking down shots for the Lady Saints.

Aragonez was a key reserve off the bench for Seward County this past season as she played close to 13.0 minutes per game while averaging 5.3 points and shooting 35.6% from beyond the arc in 31 games of action. Throughout her career with the Lady Saints, she scored a total of 233 points while knocking down 36 threes and hauling in 89 rebounds. Aragonez reached the double figures mark in eight games and tied her career high when she scored 18 points against NW Kansas Tech including a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. A clutch shooter for the SCCC, she knocked down four triples in three games with one coming in a big win over Cloud County where she scored a total of 14 points to start the second half of KJCCC action with a win.

OPSU struggles all season long a year ago as the Aggies went 3-22 overall with all three of their wins coming in conference action before losing six straight to end their 2023-24 season. Aragonez will be a key scorer for an OPSU team that had zero players average double figures in scoring last season with their returning leading scorer only averaging 7.8 points per game.

"Naomi is going to be a pillar in the OPSU program for the next two years. Homegrown talent that was raised right down the street in Guymon" said Head Coach Will Marchino. "Naomi is an outstanding student and will bring her shooting ability to OPSU and help them tremendously. We are excited to see Naomi's positive impact on their program immediately."
