Lady Saints Crack the Top-3 After Day 1
TYLER, TX - Second year Head Coach Brett Bridel has led the Lady Saints Tennis program back to nationals in Tyler, Texas for the second straight year after placing 6th in 2023. This years' team is off to a great start going 6-0 (12 Points, 3rd Place) on day one while having the #4, #5, and #6 Singles earn a bye until tomorrow's second round.
Day one started with a singles victory from the #1 Draw with Emma Petton defeating Yari Bello of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in straight sets winning 6-4, 6-2. Next was #2 Polya Nikolova also getting a straight set victory, winning 6-4, 6-1 over Munashe Bera of Lewis & Clark Community College. The last Lady Saints' singles match was from the number 3 spot in Ana Isabela Serrano, and she was also able to record a straight set victory after defeating Allyson English or Moraine Valley Community College 6-0, 6-0.
To end the day, the Lady Saints had all three doubles teams compete for a chance to move on to the second round. All three doubles teams did just that with all three pairings grabbing wins in straight set fashion. First was the pairing of Nikolova & Petton defeating Kendal Moody and Allie Rawles of Northwest Mississippi College 6-1, 6-0. Next was Ramirez and Serrano who defeated another Northwest Mississippi pairing in Mattie Sanders and Graceann Wade with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Lastly, was the pairing of Otoha Mogi and Lara Torres who routed Jessica Buker and Makenna Swasey of Mercer County Community College.
