Saints’ Season Ends in Kansas City

Liberal, Kansas – Seward County entered Friday's contest with their season on the line in Kansas City as they faced the Blue Devils in game two of round one of the Region VI Playoffs and unfortunately despite a few key scores early on for SCCC, they could not overcome the hot hitting of KCK as they fell 14-3 to end their 2024 season.

Seward County trailed early as the Blue Devils put themselves ahead with a 2-0 lead over the Saints in the first. Kaden Juarez connected on a hit for an RBI single that drove in Kotaro Wakui for the first score of the series by SCCC while a few pitches later Mason Hagel-Pitt capitalized on a wild pitch to steal home and tie things up at 2-2. Five runs for the Blue Devils in the bottom of the inning propelled them back in front 7-2 and although Cameron Cartwright was able to slam out a solo home run in the third to make it a 7-3 ball game, the Saints could never recover.

Another seven runs through the rest of the game by Kansas City Kansas resulted in a 14-3 run rule win for the Blue Devils after seven innings and ended the 2024 season for Seward County just two games into the Region VI Playoffs. The Saints finalize their season with a 30-27 overall record while going 18-14 in conference play against a very tough KJCCC schedule.
