Lady Saints Play First Game in Program History

Liberal, KAN. – Seward County women's soccer made history for their program by playing their first ever game Wednesday against Kansas City Kansas. Unfortunately, history was not on the Lady Saints side as they dropped their season opener 4-0 against the Blue Devils.

SCCC was constantly on the defensive front throughout most of the night in their first-ever game. The Lady Saints fought hard to protect their goal through the first twenty-five minutes of the first half thanks to freshman goalkeeper Sydney Williams with multiple saves to keep KCK at bay until the Blue Devils were able to finally sneak one pass at the 20:46 mark of the contest for the only goal of the first half.

When the second half began it only took three minutes for KCK to score their second goal of the game and the Blue Devils never took their foot off the gas, with their third goal of the game coming just five minutes later at the 37:10 mark and their fourth off a penalty kick. The Lady Saints went scoreless in their first ever game, falling to Kansas City Kansas 4-0.

Despite falling to the Blue Devils, Williams recorded 13 saves after facing 17 shots on goal from KCK. SCCC produced only two opportunities to score with only two shots on goal being attempted by the Lady Saints.

Seward County will be back in action on Saturday at 10 AM on the road against #18 Hutchinson in Hutchinson, Kansas where they will look to make a big upset against the nationally ranked blue dragons.
