Liberal, KS – High Levels of competition for the Saints.

The Super Smash Brothers Ultimate team returned on Tuesday evening to take on opponents from Dallas College Brookhaven and Hudson Valley Community College. Michael Medina went against the player from DCB in the standard best of 5 set. Unfortunately, Medina lost his first match and wasn't able to hold on. He fell 0 – 3 on the night, putting his overall record at 1 – 2. Marcos Montoya went down in his first match against the player from HVCC but quickly rallied back to take the next three in a row. He won on the night 3 – 1, bringing his overall record to 2 – 2. A rebroadcast of Medina's match is available on the YouTube channel.

The Call of Duty 4v4 team has been up against some very high level of competition since they started. In week 1, they took on the #1 rated team in the country. Week 2 saw them up against the #3 team, while week 3 they took on the #2 team in the country. The #1 team from Dutchess Community College returned this week to harry the Saints again. Aiden Rice, Dwayne Moran, Landon Davis, Blake Johnson, and John Epp managed to take several points off the squad from DCC during the games, but the result was the same as week 1. DCC beat the Saints team 3 – 0. The Saints COD 4v4 record at this point in the season is 0 – 4.

The Saints own Akele Powdrill had a hard-fought set against the foe from Hinds Community College, MS for Madden '24. Powdrill lost by several points in the first game and had a hard time overcoming the point deficit in his second. He fell in his sets 0 – 2. Powdrill's overall record stands at 3 – 2. He is currently rated #7 in the NJCAAE league overall. The other Madden competitor, Dwayne Moran had an equally hard time against the player from Southeast Community College, NE. The SECC player got up early and often in both games. Moran took the "L" on the night with a score 0 – 2. Moran's record is currently 2 – 3 and he is rated #16 in the overall standings.

The Saints Overwatch team jumped 8 spots this week from #32 in the league to #24 this week after their victory over Grayson College in Denison, TX. Julienne Salazar, Eileen Romo, Blake Johnson, Caden McCain, and Vanessa Ramirez-Molina hit the group from Grayson hard and never let off the gas. They stayed on top of their opponents and won their last match of the night in under 30 seconds, finishing 3 –0. Their overall record is currently 2 -2.

Call of Duty Gunfight had a successful night on Thursday. The Saints Green team, consisting of Dwayne Moran and Jesus Muniz, took on State Fair Community College. Moran and Muniz got up early and often, defeating SFCC 3 -1. The Saints Silver team, made up of Blake Johnson and Landon Davis, dominated in their set against SUNY Sullivan. The SUNY crew was never able to get one over on the Saints, with Johnson and Davis winning 3 – 0. The Saints Black team, with Aidan Rice and John Epp, debuted this week and took on fellow Jayhawkers at Barton Community College. Rice and Epp weren't able to overcome in the quick sets and fell to the Cougars 0 – 3.

The Valorant team is undergoing necessary reconstruction, but still managed to play against #8 ranked Gogebic Community College on Thursday. Julienne Salazar, Michael Medina, Marcos Montoya, Illia Ivanov, and Blake Johnson went down to the Samsons despite a lone wolf Ace from Salazar in the second

round. The Saints took the loss with a score of 0 – 2. The Valorant team's record is currently 1 – 2. They are ranked #26 in the NJCAAE.

 

To combat technical difficulties, the Rocket League team played from their respective homes instead of the esports lab last Friday. They took on Dallas College Mountain View in a best of 5 set. The changes worked, as Eileen Romo, Fabian Tarango, and Jesus Muniz put up a good showing against DCMV. They won their first round in a low scoring contest. In the second round, DCMV came out hot and left the Saints trailing all game. After that, it was all green team. The Saints won the set 3 – 1. They are 2 – 2 on the season so far and are ranked #18 in the league.

 

The number #7 ranked University of South Carolina Sumter matched up against the Saints Rainbow 6 squad late Friday night. Aidan Rice, Blake Johnson, Dwayne Moran, John Epp, and fought hard against the USCS team, but couldn't overcome the tactics and coordination of the older team. The Saints fell 0 – 3 on the night. They are currently ranked #12 in the NJCAAE.
