NJCAA Names Williams National Goalkeeper of the Week

Liberal, Kansas - After holding Dodge City scoreless in a big conference matchup on Sunday and being recognized by the KJCCC as conference goalkeeper of the week, Seward County freshman Sydney Williams has been named the National Goalkeeper of the Week as announced by the NJCAA office on Wednesday.

Williams was a defensive leader for the Lady Saints in their game against the Conqs, holding her opponents scoreless through 90:00 minutes of action, facing 10 shots on goal and recording 10 total saves to keep the Seward County goal protected and help lead the Lady Saints to a 0-0 tie and gain a result against Dodge City.

Williams leads Seward County in total saves on their inaugural season with 110 through fourteen games, ranking first in the KJCCC and 10th overall in the NJCAA.

"First being recognized by the conference and now by the NJCAA is a huge accomplishment for Sydney" says Derek Talcott (Head Women's Soccer Coach). "She has worked so hard this season to help our program in its first year and that hard work has obviously paid off".

The Lady Saints women's soccer team will be back in action on Saturday in their last home game of the 2023 season when they take on Coffeyville in a 4:00 PM matchup on Redskin Field.
