  • 16 Seward Student-Athletes Honored in Record NJCAA Academic Award Class

    If classroom performance is any judge of it, there are going to be a record number of former NJCAA student-athletes making their mark on the working world in two years as the NJCAA announced on Wednesday that a record 2,026 athletes, including 16 Seward County Saints and Lady Saints from six different teams have earned NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards, formerly known as the NJCAA’s Academic All-American award.
  • Lady Saints Announce 2015 Summer Fundamentals Camp

    Seward County Lady Saints Head Coach Toby Wynn has announced the dates and times for his 2015 Lady Saints Fundamentals Camp. Wynn invites children entering grades 2-5 to the Greenhouse for morning sessions June 15-17 from 8:30-10:30 with children entering grades 6-8 going in session number two from 10:30-12:30. Cost for the camp is $40 which includes six hours of instruction plus a free camp t-shirt. Those interested in attending can fill out the attached WAIVER FORM and return it to Toby Wynn at PO Box 1137 in Liberal.
  • Four Lady Saints Sign Four Year Letter of Intents

    Following a 28-6 season that saw them finish in the Sweet 16 at the NJCAA National Tournament, four Seward County Lady Saint sophomores signed their National Letter of Intents to move on and play at the four year level next year Monday afternoon in a ceremony in Seward’s All-American Room. Kyndal Davis is on her way to the University of Wyoming, Rebekah Hatchard will play at Montana State University, Brooklyn Artis will attend Indiana State University, and Jasmine Jordan will remain close to Liberal at Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
  • Three Legends Take Their Place in Seward Athletics Hall of Fame

    It was a night to celebrate in the Greenhouse on Friday as three of the greatest Seward County Saints and Lady Saints to ever put on a uniform were inducted into the Saints Athletics Hall of Fame. The top two scorers and rebounders in Lady Saints Basketball history, Tegan Cunningham and Jamie Talbert, joined the leading hitter in Saints baseball history, Tim Forkner, as the Class of 2015.
  • Davis, Seda Lead School Record Four Lady Saints on All-Region Teams

    After a very successful season that eventually ended in the Sweet 16 of the NJCAA National Tournament, the Seward County Lady Saints had a school record four players named to the NJCAA All-Region VI Team on Thursday. Kyndal Davis was a 1st Team selection for Seward while Tamara Seda was a 2nd Team pick and Brooklyn Artis and Axelle Bernard were Honorable Mention choices by the coaches.

    The Seward County Lady Saints reached the NJCAA National Tournament Sweet 16 on Tuesday night in Salina, Kansas but the party quickly turned to heartbreak as the gals in green fell 53-47 to Walters State in a game that was dominated by defense on both sides.

    The Seward County women’s basketball program has played in their fair share of NJCAA National Tournament games in Salina’s Bicentennial Center, but none, have ended the way the Lady Saints opening round game Monday night did. In their first round matchup with North Dakota’s Lake Region State, Seward got a career high 30 points from sophomore Kyndal Davis, leading the way to an 89-57 win, marking their largest margin of victory in Lady Saints program history at the Big Dance.
  • Lady Saints to Take on Lake Region State in NJCAA National Tournament 1st Round

    Lake Region State College from Devil’s Lake, North Dakota will be the Seward County Lady Saints 1st round opponent at next week’s NJCAA National Tournament in Salina, Kansas. As released by the NJCAA on Monday, the Lady Saints and Lady Royals draw the 4:30 PM game on the opening day of the tournament in the Bicentennial Center. Seward will enter the tournament as the #12 seed while Lake Region enters as the #21 seed.

    The #9 Seward County Lady Saints run in the NJCAA Region VI Tournament came to an end on Friday in Koch Arena in Wichita as despite the Lady Saints erasing a 19 point second half deficit, Coffeyville outlasted Seward 78-75 to advance to their first NJCAA National Tournament since 1998 while leaving it up to the at-large selection committee in deciding whether Seward should be in the Big Dance as well or not.

    With a combination of timely shooting and solid defense, the #9 Seward County Lady Saints advanced to the Region VI Tournament Semifinals Wednesday afternoon in Wichita, bouncing the #3 seed from the Jayhawk East, the Cowley Tigers by a score of 72-59 to move on and face the East’s #1 seed, the Coffeyville Red Ravens with a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament on the line Friday at 1:00.
  • #7 Lady Saints Explode in Playoff Beating of Neosho

    The #7 Seward County Lady Saints put on a second half clinic Saturday night in the Greenhouse in the 1st Round of the 2015 Region VI Tournament. Unfortunately for the visiting Neosho County Panthers, the clinic came at their expense as Seward exploded for 61 second half points in a blowout 108-49 victory that saw a number of all-time records and career highs fall for the Lady Saints.
  • Seward Drops Battle of Top 10 Titans

    For the second time this season the Seward County Lady Saints and Hutchinson Lady Blue Dragons hooked up on the hardwood both ranked inside the NJCAA’s top 10 and for the second time this season it was the undefeated Lady Dragons getting the best of Seward, this time a 73-51 in Hutchinson’s Sports Arena.
  • Lady Saints Fall to Butler For First Time Since '95 in Liberal

    As Seward County Lady Saints Head Coach Toby Wynn has said many times “it looks like you are playing pretty good when the shots are falling”. Unfortunately for #7 Seward, the shots were not falling Saturday night in the Greenhouse on Sophomore Night in Liberal as Seward found themselves playing catch up all night, before eventually falling 68-61 to Butler, giving the Lady Grizzlies their first win over the Lady Saints in the Greenhouse since the 1995 season.
  • Hot Shooting Early Leads #7 Lady Saints Over Garden

    Playing in the building where they picked up arguably their best win of the 2014-2015 season over #4 New Mexico earlier this year, the #7 Seward County Lady Saints took the court Wednesday in the Perryman Center in Garden City to take on the rival Lady Busters. It didn’t take long for Seward to catch fire as the Lady Saints jumped out to a 23-5 lead against Garden on the Busters Sophomore Night and never looked back, cruising to an 80-61 win to earn their 25th win of the season.
  • Artis/Bernard Lead Seward Past Dodge

    Behind a combined 35 points from freshmen Brooklyn Artis and Axelle Bernard, the #7 Seward County Lady Saints raced by the visiting Dodge City Lady Conquistadors by a count of 71-48 on Homecoming Night in the Greenhouse Saturday. Seward raced out to a 36-17 halftime lead before coasting to the 23 point win to improve to 24-2 and 12-1 in Jayhawk West Conference play with the win.
  • Seward Wins Shootout With Cloud

    When Seward County and Cloud County hookup on the floor in women’s basketball it is usually a low scoring grinder between the two Jayhawk West rivals. Monday night when they got together in Concordia it was expected to be nothing different than that once again, but fans who made the long trip to Bryant Gymnasium got something far different as the Lady Saints came from behind to win an 87-80 shootout in the second highest scoring battle between the Lady Saints and Lady T-Birds all time.
  • Lady Saints Win 48th Straight Against Pratt

    Wednesday night against Colby it was a big second half propelling the 7th ranked Seward County Lady Saints to a Jayhawk West Conference victory, Saturday night at home against Pratt it was their first half heroics leading them to an 84-69 victory over the visiting Lady Beavers. Seward raced out to a 52-25 halftime lead before holding off a late charging Beaver bunch to win their 48th straight game against Pratt and in the process pick up their 10th Jayhawk West win to extend that streak to 20 consecutive years.
  • Big Second Half Overcomes Slow Start For #7 Seward

    It was a much better final 20 minutes than first 20 minutes to say the least for the Seward County Lady Saints Wednesday night in Colby. After taking just a one point lead into the break against the struggling Lady Trojans, Seward found themselves down by one early in the second half before a 28-0 run blew the game open where they went on to win 74-43.

    While winning has been a theme for the 6th ranked Seward County Lady Saints this season, the gals in green also realize that winning at Seward has been going on a long time and Monday night in the Greenhouse proved just that as the 2015 version of the Lady Saints picked up their 20th win of the year with a 71-57 victory over visiting Garden City, marking the 23rd straight season that the Seward program has eclipsed the 20 win mark.

    Coming off of a heartbreaking loss just three days earlier, the #6 Seward County Lady Saints responded well Saturday night in the Greenhouse, putting on a 78-48 shellacking of Barton behind career highs from both Rebekah Hatchard and Daniela Galindo in the win.
  • Lady Saints Lose Heartbreaker to #1 Hutch
    January 29, 2015
    It was a game that fans around the Jayhawk Conference had been waiting for for months and it lived up to its billing Wednesday night in the Greenhouse as #6 Seward County hosted #1 Hutchinson in the marquee NJCAA matchup of the night. Early on it looked like it might be Hutch’s night as the Lady Dragons took a 16 point first half lead before Seward narrowed it to 9 at the halftime break. Methodically the Lady Saints worked their way back into the game in the second half and with 6:45 to go they tied the score at 53. After trading leads for the final 7:00, a pair of Hutchinson free throws had the Lady Dragons up one with 3.9 seconds to go and a last second attempt at the win for the Lady Saints rolled off the rim as #1 Hutch held on to win 62-61.
  • #6 Seward Dominates Butler Wire to Wire in Road Victory

    The Seward County Lady Saints know a thing or two about home court winning streaks and they decided to show the Butler Lady Grizzlies that it was time for theirs to come to an end Saturday afternoon in El Dorado as Seward led nearly wire to wire in a dominating 61-48 victory to snap the Grizzlies 33 game home court winning streak in the Power Plant.

    After leading the Lady Saints to a pair of road victories to improve to 17-1 overall and 5-0 in Jayhawk West Conference play this week, Seward County redshirt freshman Tamara Seda has been named the KJCCC Week 10 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
  • 74 Seward Student-Athletes Named to Fall AD Honor Roll

    A total of 113 Seward County student-athletes combined for an overall GPA of 3.16 for the Fall 2014 semester with 74 Saints and Lady Saints named to the Athletic Directors Honor Roll with 9 receiving a perfect 4.0 GPA.
  • Seward County/Garden City Women's Basketball Game Postponed
    January 19, 2015
    Due to a vehicle accident, the Seward County vs. Garden City Women’s Basketball game scheduled for tonight, January 21st, has been postponed to Monday, February 2nd in Liberal with the same start time of 6:00. The originally scheduled men’s basketball game at 8:00 between Seward County and Garden City will be played at its normally scheduled time tonight.

    Behind dominating performances on the inside from freshmen forwards Tamara Seda and Axelle Bernard, the #8 Seward County Lady Saints breezed by Dodge City Saturday night in the Civic Center by a score of 76-59 to remain perfect on the season in Jayhawk West Conference play. Seda finished the game with a career high 28 points as well as 16 rebounds, while Bernard scored her career high of 16 and had 13 boards for the Lady Saints.
