Student-Athlete Banquet 2022 Recap and Awards

LIBERAl, Kan. - Seward County Athletic Department held their student-athlete banquet on Friday, April 25th in the Greenhouse. Department honored the individual teams and awarded program MVPs, Freshman of the year, and Sophomore of the year. 

First, those in attendance were welcomed by the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Kenny Hernandez who was the MC for the evening. Great Western Dining provided a three-course meal that concluded with a cheesecake dessert. 

As the dinner concluded, President Brad Bennett addressed the crowd and led a stand ovation to recognize the student-athletes, and provided them with words of encouragement as the academic year comes to a close. Each program's Head Coach brought their teams to the podium to discuss their 2021-22 year. The Women's basketball program and Head Coach Todd Ciochetto presented Hulda Joaquim with the Jamie Talbert award. The Head Coach Mike Davidson and the baseball program presented Brody Boisvert with the Wade Johnstone award.

Each program voted on their team's MVP award for the 2021-22 season and the list of each program's MVP is listed below. 

Men's Tennis MVP: Kyllian Savary

Women's Tennis MVP: Justine Lespes 

Volleyball MVP: Seyun Park

Baseball MVP: Jase Schneider

Softball MVP: Ireland Caro

Men's Basketball MVP: Branton "Bee" McCrary

Women's Basketball MVP: Sierra Lynch

Cheerleading MVP: Anahi Navarrete

Student Trainer Of The Year: Alonzo Mendoza

Seward County's student-athletes voted on the Sophomore and Freshman of the year awards. Ranse Radtke was voted freshman of the year and Jase Schneider from the Saints baseball team received Sophomore of the year.

It was a great event to recognize all of the student-athletes in their year of athletics at Seward County. Thank you to all of those that came out and showed their support for the student-athletes.
