Former Lady Saint Feliz receives AVCA All-American honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Seward County Community College former volleyball stand-out Yanlis Feliz receives Division I AVCA All-American honorable mention for her accomplishments at Chicago State University during the 2021 season. Feliz becomes the first AVCA All-American in program history and the first at the university since 1987.

Feliz set a program record with 540 total kills in a single season, and finished third in NCAA Division 1 with 5.19 kills per set during the 2021 fall season. Feliz earned WAC player of the year, AVCA All-Regional team member, and was named WAC Player of the week three times throughout the season. Chicago State finished the season with a program-best 17-11 season record and a 9-5 WAC record.

While at Seward County Feliz helped the Lady Saints to the program's first National Championship match during the 2019 season. Feliz was named a first-team All-American in the NJCAA while also awarded Player of the year in the KJCCC and freshman of the year in the Conference. During the championship match, Feliz set a Lady Saint record with 34 total kills in a five-set match. While at Seward County Feliz averaged 4.73 kills per set, .409 hitting percentage on the year, and 3.15 digs per set.

Yanlis Feliz will continue at Chicago State and will build on her already outstanding resume at the next level. The Cougars are currently in the process of joining a new conference as they are opting out of the WAC as of June 2022 but we know whoever the opponent is Feliz will continue to thrive.
