Lady Saints host Pratt in opening round of Region VI playoffs
LIBERAL, Kan. – The Lady Saints basketball team opens up the first round of the Region VI playoffs by hosting Pratt Community College at 7 p.m. tonight in the Greenhouse.
Seward finished the regular season at 14-10 in the Jayhawk Conference, sixth overall, and 19-11.
The Lady Saints won both matchups this season against the Beavers, 82-57 on November 30 at the Greenhouse and 86-45 on February 1 at Pratt.
Seward also knocked off Pratt in the opening round last season, 56-50, at the Greenhouse.
The Lady Saints ended the season with a three-game losing streak, losing to Coffeyville, Hutchinson and Garden City.
Seward is led by sophomores Kylee Hunt (11.9 ppg), Ari Gordon (10.6 ppg and 3.0 steals) and Allie Myers (7.4 points and 8.1 rebounds). Freshman Avery Marchino has also been a bright spot, averaging 10.3 points.
Pratt enters the playoffs at 3-21 in the conference, 11th overall, 2 overall.
The Beavers are riding a four-game slide, including a 77-71 loss to Cloud County on Wednesday.
La'Kyra Johnson is Pratt's top scorer, averaging 14.5 points. Johnson scored 17 points and 13 points in the two losses to Seward.
The Beavers are also powered by Kalani Brock (8.9 points) and Dana Imankulova (7.4 points).
