Lady Saints-Fort Hays Tech NW Preview

LIBERAL. Kan. – The Seward County Community College women's basketball team looks for its sixth win in seven games when it hosts Fort Hays Tech Northwest at 6 p.m. on Saturday in the Greenhouse.

The Lady Saints are coming off a 59-53 win over Barton on Wednesday at home. Seward needed a strong fourth quarter, outscoring Barton 27-16, to rally to the victory.

Seward has struggled in the third quarter in its last two games, scoring a combined 10 points in that period (six against Dodge City and four against Barton).

The Lady Saints are led in scoring by Kylee Hunt with 13.9 points and Ari Gordon with 9.9 points. Freshman Avery Marchino has scored double digits in three of her last four games and averaging 8.6 points on the season.

Seward is 4-2 in the Jayhawk Conference, tied for fourth, and 9-3 overall. SCCC wraps up the first half against Fort Hays Tech Northwest and will resume its schedule at Colby on Saturday, January 4.

The Fort Hays Tech Northwest Tigers, formerly the Northwest Kansas Technical College Mavericks, heads into Saturday's game without a win. The Tigers are 0-7 in conference play and 0-11 overall.

Fort Hays Tech lost at Pratt, 65-57, on Wednesday. It was only the second time all season the Tigers have scored more than 50 points. They are averaging 46.1 points while allowing 84.3 points.

Al'asia Brown and Dekeira Clay are averaging 9 points and Torrai Logan and Alba Garrido Lamas are averaging 8 points.

Fort Hays University entered into an affiliation agreement with Northwest Kansas Technical College and North Central Kansas Technical College last year.
