Weather Results in Early Finish After Saints Take Game One

Thursday afternoon started another Jayhawk Conference series for the Seward County baseball team as they made the trip out west to take on the Colby Trojans where after a late run in game one to take a 1-0 series lead, both sides had to find cover as the weather forced them to end the game early three innings in.

Seward County baseball grabbed a key KJCCC win over the Butler Grizzlies on the road this past Friday and continued their success on Sunday with a doubleheader sweep over their Jayhawk rival thanks to a clutch walk-off home run by Nathan Hopkins off the first pitch of the ninth inning to clinch the win.

After a strong sweep over Garden City a week ago, the Seward County Saints baseball team took the road to El Dorado to begin a four-game KJCCC series against the Butler Grizzlies where game one went the distance in a pitching battle that saw Butler grab a 2-0 win to start the series while the Saints erupted in game two to end the day early in a run rule win 15-5.

Seward County baseball continued their hot streak at the plate on Saturday as they made the hour-long trip down the road to Garden City to finish what they started a few days ago at home and thanks to some big home run swings from Cameron Cartwright and Nathan Hopkins, the Saints were able to complete their series sweep over the Broncbusters.

After falling in their previous series, the Seward County Saints took the field at home for another big rivalry matchup with Garden City for a KJCCC series that saw Tyler Wilcox allow only two hits in game one as SCCC busted the Broncbusters in a run rule sweep to begin the series with a 2-0 lead.

Seward County connected on a multitude of big hits throughout their doubleheader against Hutchinson on Sunday afternoon and despite knocking out three home run bombs in game two, the Saints were unable to hold back the Blue Dragons who scorched their way in front and never looked back to take the series over SCCC 4-0.

Seward County baseball hit the road on Thursday towards Hutchinson where they began another high-level Jayhawk series against the Blue Dragons where despite falling in a run rule loss in game one 12-2 in five innings, the Saints remained strong in game two with a lead entering the ninth but fell in heartbreaking fashion 4-3 to fall behind 0-2 in the series.

After a tough day against the Barton Cougars less than forty-eight hours ago, the Seward County Saints bounced back with revenge on their mind as they entered Great Bend and grabbed both games on Saturday to end the series in a split thanks to back-to-back 5-4 wins over the Cougars.

Seward County struggled on Thursday afternoon as they began their series against the Barton Cougars with back-to-back run rule losses as the Saints went through their bull pen to try and find the right pitcher, but the Cougars found ways to score no matter what SCCC threw at them.

Seward County remains even in conference action after splitting their final two games on Saturday where despite dropping the third game of a four-game series with Cloud County, the Saints were led by Cameron Cartwright who knocked out a grand slam in the final game to put Seward County ahead and grab a win to end the series in a draw 2-2 with the T-Birds.

Seward County baseball began their second series of conference action on Thursday afternoon with the first two of a four-game series against the Cloud County T-Birds in Concordia where a lack of hits in game one resulted in a loss for the Saints, but a dominant showing at the plate in game two propelled them to a 14-4 win to even the series up at 1-1 returning home to Liberal.

After splitting the first two games of the series less than forty-eight hours ago, the Saints and Conquistadors took the field in Dodge City for the final two games where the two teams once again split on the day as Dodge City grabbed a small 2-1 win in game one of the day while Seward County was able to even the series back up with a 7-4 win to wrap things up against DC3.

Jayhawk conference action began on Thursday for the Saints as they faced the Conqs of Dodge City for the first two games of a four-game series between the two conference rivals. Brian Luna Alvarez was able to strike out nine batters at the plate to blank DC3 in game one 4-0, but the Saints could not repeat their success in game two as they fell 8-4 to split the first two games of the series.

Seward County baseball continued their road stint this week with a trip to Pueblo, Colorado where the Saints faced off with the Trojans of Trinidad State and grabbed a big 15-7 win in game one of the three game series this weekend.
