Saints sweep day 1 against Dodge, take over 2nd in the conference

Game 1:

Seward County was able to win against the Conquistadors in Game 1, winning 5-2. Brian Luna earned the win for Seward County after surrendering only two runs on five hits over five innings. TJ Newman threw two innings in relief to earn the save.

Wolf led things off on the mound for Dodge City. He lasted six innings, allowing six hits and five runs. Robinson threw one inning in relief for the Conquistadors.

The Saints had eight hits in the game. Cameron Cartwright led the way with three hits and scored one run. The Saints worked the bases as they scored four of the five runs on sacrifice outs. More importantly, the Saints were clean in the field, committing zero errors.

Game 2:

Despite the cool winds, both teams' offenses found a rhythm in game two. The Saints were able to outlast the Conquistadors, winning 14-11 to go home 2-0 in the series.

Seward County got on the board in the first inning when Jaxson Gregg doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Elijah Bear added to his conference-leading RBI total by homering in the third inning. The Saints tallied four more runs in the fourth inning, with Cameron Cartwright and Todd Baffa again powering the offense. Despite both teams battling, the Saints never trailed in the game.

Aidan Moore started for the Saints and lasted five and two-thirds while picking up the win.

The Saints return to Brent Gould Field Saturday for the conclusion of the series.
