Saints Fall in Game One to Blue Devils

Liberal, Kansas – Round 1 of the Region VI Tournament began on Thursday with the Seward County Saints making the trip out East to take on the Kansas City Kansas Blue Devils where a big first inning from the Blue Devils led to a loss for the Saints in game one as they fell 21-0 on day one.

Seward County stepped up to bat first and after a quick three and out for the Saints, Kansas City Kansas responded with seven runs in the bottom of the inning to push ahead with a 7-0 lead to begin the game. Another three runs in the third for KCK put the game in run rule territory with a double-digit advantage before growing it even further to 15-0 in the fourth. A grand slam from the Blue Devils in the fifth added another four runs to push it to twenty and a final run in the sixth made the score 21-0 as game one ended early with Seward County falling to KCK to start the postseason.

The Saints now fall to a 30-26 overall record on their 2024 season with the postseason now one game in and game two taking place tomorrow as Seward County takes on the Blue Devils in the second game of the series with their season on the line.
