Saints Blank Coyotes in Road Victory

Liberal, KAN. – Seward County men's soccer picked up their third win of the season Sunday afternoon with a late first half goal to grab a 1-0 win to shut out Kansas Wesleyan's reserve team in Salina, Kansas for their fourth of five straight road games in September.

The Saints who normally remain reserved on their shot attempts let it fly today as they totaled 12 shot attempts on the afternoon with 7 of those being on goal with one sinking in from Juan Lopera who scored his first career goal off an assist from Nate Kelly at the 9:00 minute mark of the first half that gave SCCC a 1-0 lead that never fell. Eight Saints attempted at least one shot with Lopera taking three while Mateo Molina, Javier Rucheli, and Alexander Stevens-Lee each attempting two.

In his first career start for the Green and Black, Santiago Gonzalez Uribe recorded three saves for the Saints while playing all 90:00 minutes in the Saints shutout win over the Coyotes reserve team to help improve Seward County to 3-3-2 on their inaugural season. They will finish their five-game road stint next Wednesday at 6:00 PM when they take on the Coffeyville Red Ravens in Coffeyville, Kansas.
