Saints Esports Post-Season Week 1

Liberal, KS – The Saints Madden '24 team had an interesting week for their first time in the playoffs as Dwayne Moran faced off against his opponent from Lakeland Community College on Wednesday night, preparing to go the distance in the best of 5 sets.  The representative from Lakeland came away with the first win of the night, but Moran answered back in dominating fashion to take the second game and tie the series.  During the third game, the LCC Coach contacted Coach Volden about a possible problem.

"The Lakeland Coach messaged me around halftime of the third game, saying that his player would not be available to continue in the playoff series at all after that night.  They were going to forfeit the game in our favor and wished good luck to Dwayne moving forward," Coach Volden said. "It was a very unusual situation, but it meant Moran got to move on."
Moran's next opponent is from Dallas College Cedar Valley.  That game will take place on Wednesday night at 5pm.
Akele Powdrill, the other member of the Saints Madden team, had a similar experience.  Powdrill was all queued up and ready to go, waiting for his foe from Danville Area Community College.  After waiting for more than 30 minutes for his opponent to show, the match went up for review by NJCAAE officials who declared it a no-show game and forced the Danville team to forfeit in favor of SCCC.

Powdrill will face off Wednesday night at 5pm against his opponent from Harrisburg Area Community College. Powdrill's match will be streamed to the Saints Esports YouTube channel beginning at approximately 5 pm.

Unfortunately, the Saints Rocket League team fell during the second round of their respective post-season playoffs.  The University of South Carolina Sumter Fireants entered the virtual pitch and put on a performance dominated by player demolitions. A demolition is when one team destroys a player on the other team, causing them to sit out for 3 seconds before the demolished player can respawn.  The Fireants showed their mastery of demolitions Friday night as they swept the Saints 4 games to 0.
