Sanchez Signs With the University of Texas-Permian Basin

Thursday in the All-American Room at Seward County Community College, another Lady Saint Volleyball player signed to continue her playing career as sophomore outside hitter Annelise Sanchez inked on the dotted line with the University of Texas-Permian Basin.

Sanchez starred for the Lady Saints the past two seasons, earning All-Conference and All-Region Honors in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.  As a rookie in 2012, Sanchez was second on the Lady Saints team with 296 kills on the season, averaging 2.29 per set, also second best on the squad.  She was also a standout on the defensive end, finishing the season with 134 digs and 51 blocks as a six rotation player.  As a sophomore she was even better, finishing off 373 kills, at a clip of 2.76 per set and finished the year with 273 digs and 45 blocks.  She ranked 5th in the Jayhawk West in total kills and also ranked in the top 10 with her .210 hitting percentage.

She will join a UTPB team who is in the midst of a 10-19 season and has posted a 7-10 record in the Heartland Conference.  In somewhat of a rebuilding mode, the NCAA Division II Falcons have as many as nine players returning next season for Coach Steve Aicinena.

Sanchez said she chose UTBP because she liked Aicinena's coaching style as well as the beautiful campus in Odessa and the nationally recognized Business program at the school.
