Lady Saints fall to Utah State Eastern 3-1
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Seward County Community College fell to No. 9 Utah State Eastern 3-1 in their final match on Friday evening in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Lady Saints jumped out to win the first set 25- 14 but fell in the next three sets 25-23, 25-16, and 25-18. Seward County falls to 12-4 on the year and will be back in action tomorrow at noon against Pima Community College, followed by Arizona Western at 4 PM CT. Seward county will look to bounce back in the invitation as they are 1-2 so far in sin city.
In the first set, the Lady Saints were tied up with the Eagles 3-3. Seward County stretched their lead into a 12-9 advantage over Utah State Eastern. Seward County dominated in the first set, 20-13, over Utah State Eastern. The Lady Saints went on to win the first set 25-14 and took a 1-0 match lead over the Eagles.
Seward County started the second set down 7-6 and looked to get back in front. The Lady Saints and the Eagles traded off points and found themselves tied at 18. Seward County trailed 20-19, and the Eagles went on to win the set 25-23.
Early in the third set, the Eagles jumped to a 7-1 lead over the Lady Saints. Seward County battles back to trail 11-6. Seward County fell behind after a 9-4 run by Utah State Eastern, 20-10. After a late surge by the Lady Saints, the Eagles won the third set 25-16.
In the fourth set, Seward County fell behind early 13-7 and looked to battle back. The Eagles extended their lead over Seward County 21-14. Seward County fell in the fourth set 25-18 as Utah State Eastern won the match 3-1.
Seward County will conclude the Coyote invite tomorrow with Pima at noon, followed by Arizona Western at 4 PM CT.
