Seward County Disappointed at Home with Loss to Cowley

Seward County competed in their biggest matchup of the 2024 season against the reigning NJCAA National Champions in the Cowley Tigers where both the Saints and Lady Saints of SCCC were upended by the reigning champs who swept the women’s team 9-0 and knocked off the men’s team 7-2.
Lady Saints Tennis Continue Success in Great Bend

Seward County tennis has had incredible success throughout the 2024 season and the Lady Saints tennis squad continued to show why they are one of the best teams in the NJCAA as they routed Barton on the road 6-3 to remain undefeated in conference action. The Saints men’s team however could not capitalize on a hot start after starting 3-0 after doubles play, falling 5-4 overall with the Cougars winning nearly every singles matchup.
Lady Saints Tennis Falls to NCAA D1 Miners

Seward County Lady Saints Tennis has dominated throughout the 2024 season so far but found a small bump in the road with their highest ranked opponent in an NCAA Division 1 opponent in the UTEP Miners where SCCC fell to the Miners 0-7 on the day with most of the matches coming down to just a couple points.

Seward County women’s tennis played at home in Liberal for the first time of the 2024 season and continued their dominance over the past few weeks as the Lady Saints won 5-0 and were ahead in the other two singles matches before weather cut their matchups short.
Tennis Begins Conference Action with Wins Over Pratt

Seward County tennis made their way to Pratt on Thursday to start their Jayhawk conference schedule with a pair of matchups with the Beavers where both the Saints and Lady Saints came out with wins as the men’s team came out on top with a 5-4 win thanks to a clutch victory from Sebastian De Las Salas Vasquez while the women’s team swept Pratt 9-0.
Seward County Triumphs Over Baker with 7-0 Sweeps

Seward County Tennis continued their incredible start to the 2024 season on Friday morning as they took the courts against Baker University with a 10:00 AM start time that saw both the Saints and Lady Saints tennis teams grab clean sweeps over their opponents with both squads going 7-0 on the day.

Seward County Tennis hit the road towards Saint Louis for a pair of matches on Monday where both the Saints and Lady Saints swept their competition with a perfect 9-0 result in both matchups on the day to go a combined 18-0 for both teams over Lewis & Clark and Southwestern Illinois to return home to Liberal with two more wins to their resume.

The Seward County tennis teams hit the road on Friday towards Texas for a two-day tournament where both the Saints and Lady Saints grabbed wins against Sul Ross and Texas A&M Texarkana as both squads went 13-3 on the day through both games.

Seward County tennis hit the courts again for the second straight day in Texas as the Saints and Lady Saints competed against UT Permian Basin where the women’s team for SCCC was able to capitalize with a 5-2 win to complete their undefeated weekend while the men’s team fell just one short as they fell 3-4 to end their road trip.

Seward County Tennis dominated the courts this week in the Bear State when they faced off with Arkansas Fort Smith where both the Saints and Lady Saints grabbed 5-2 wins over their adversaries with the duo of Nikolova and Torres going a perfect 6-0 in duos to lead the way for a successful day on the road.
Lady Saints Tennis Tame the Tigers of Colorado College

It was a late start Saturday night for the Seward County Tennis teams with the women’s team managing to knock off the Tigers of Colorado College 6-3 with Lara Torres Baron leading the way by showing her skillset in her season debut in both singles and doubles. The Saints men’s team however struggled on the road at night as they fell 2-7 with Sebastian de Las Salas Vasquez and Ognjen Gajic grabbing the only two wins for their team.
Lady Saints Tennis Falls to Angelo State in Opening Weekend

After starting their 2024 season with a perfect 9-0 record in day one of their two-day road trip, the Seward County Lady Saints tennis team fell to Angelo State 7-0 with no SCCC player able to find success on the court. Alejandra Ramirez Botella was the lone bright spot for SCCC as she was able to keep her doubles team in reach 6-4 while taking her singles opponent into extra points 7-6 in set two.

Friday afternoon the Saints and Lady Saints Tennis teams began their 2024 seasons on the road against McMurry University where both groups went a perfect 9-0 on the day in doubles and singles competition to start the season off 1-0 for the men’s and women’s tennis teams.

Day One of ITA Regionals, Saints look to continue early season growth

Arkansas City, KAN. – The Seward County Tennis program enters its second season with Brett Bridel at the helm and with that comes his first time coaching these Saint at the ITA Regionals since he came to campus in December of 2022. Coming off of a 6th place finish at the 2023 on the women’s side and a reload on the men’s side this is the first proving ground for the 2023-24 squads.
Lady Saints finish 6th, Belberka and Mora named All-Americans

TYLER, Texas - Under first year Head Coach, Brett Bridel, the Lady Saints finish one point shy of a top five placing with 26 points they capture a 6th place finish at nationals and in the process Camille Belberka and Carol Mora are named 2023 NJCAA All-Americans. Seward County finishes behind ABAC for the tournament and 20 points behind 2023 National Champions Hillsborough Community College.
