Region VI Semifinals: No. 3 Seward County vs No. 2 Hutchinson

LIBERAL, Kan. - Seward County Community College advanced to the Region VI semifinals that will be held at Tony's Pizza Event Center in Salina, Kansas. The Lady Saints will face off against the No. 2 seed in the tournament Hutchinson Community College at 5 PM CT on Friday, March 4th. The top of the bracket will feature the No. 1 seed Independence Community college against No. 4 Barton Community College, and the two winners will meet in the championship game on Saturday, March 5th at 6 PM CT. 

These games will be streamed by Region VI and can be viewed at the KJCCC Sports Network (https://www.kjcccsports.net/). These games will be free to watch and will not be charged. The games will also be streamed on the radio at KSCB 107.5 FM (https://www.kscbnews.net/) as Kenny Hernandez will have the play-by-play on Friday night and Brock Kappelmann will provide the play-by-play on Saturday if need be.

If you are planning on attending the games this weekend in person you will need to purchase tickets to attend. Follow the link for Tony's Pizza Event Center with adult tickets at $11 dollars per day and $6 for students. These tickets are general admission tickets and provide access to all of the games per day. 

Seward County advanced after they defeated Colby Community College 74-67 in the Greenhouse last Tuesday evening. Hutchinson enters the semifinals after a 72-52 victory over Dodge City Community College. The Lady Saints have defeated the Blue Dragons in their two meetings this season as Seward County won the first contest 70-54 at home and followed it up with a 66-61 victory on the road on February 16th. Sierra Lynch led the team with 24 points in the first game against the Blue Dragons and Zhane Thompson led the team in the second game with 17 points. 

The Blue Dragons tied Independence for first place in the KJCCC with a 19-5 conference record. The Pirates held the tiebreaker since it went back to head-to-head record against Seward County and Independence split the season with the Lady Saints. Including the win against the conquistadors, the Blue Dragons are currently on a three-game winning streak as they defeated Butler 65-58 on February 18th and defeated Garden 55-51 on February 23rd. 

Come on out to Salina and support the Lady Saints or follow along online as Seward County looks to advance to the Region VI Championship game.
