GAMEDAY IN THE GREENHOUSE: Seward County vs. Otero Women's Basketball

GAME PREVIEW:

In what has become an annual tradition, the Seward County Lady Saints and Otero Lady Rattlers will go head to head this afternoon in the Greenhouse in exhibition action.  Fans will notice major changes to the women's game this season as game format has changed from two halves to four quarters, as well as the addition of the advancement rule in the final minute of each half and much more.

Seward is coming off a monster 2014-2015 season which saw them win 30 games and finish in the top 10 at the NJCAA National Tournament.  The Lady Saints return just four players to the fold this season, but two of them were All-Conference performers as freshman a season ago in guard Daniela Galindo and forward Axelle Bernard.  Galindo came up huge for Seward down the stretch, averaging 14.5 points per game in the Lady Saints final 27 contests of the season.  Bernard was a solid contributor on both ends of the floor throughout the season, averaging 8.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per night including eight double-doubles on the year.

The Lady Rattlers were 19-9 a season ago, watching their campaign come to an end in the second round of the Region IX Tournament against Central Wyoming.  Otero was an offensive juggernaut in 2014-2015, finishing in the top 10 in the country in points per game at 80.8 while also connecting on the long ball more than all but seven teams in the nation, hitting 7.7 three pointers per game.  Otero returns three starters to the mix this season including Macy Myers who was an All-Region performer as a freshman a season ago averaging 13.2 points per game.
