Brooks & Chapman Sign at Universities

A pair of Seward County Lady Saint sophomores signed on the dotted line Wednesday in the All-American Room as Shanise Brooks signed Division I University of the Incarnate Word and Korina Chapman signed at Division II Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Brooks was a 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-Region selection for the Lady Saints following a season in which she was Seward's leading scorer from start to end.  Brooks averaged 15.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per game for the Lady Saints this year, also leading the team with 2.2 blocked shots per game.  Brooks was consistent for the Lady Saints all year long, scoring in double figures in 28 of Seward's 32 games.  She put up 20 or more points in 5 different games and reached the 30 point mark early in the year against Oklahoma Baptist.  She was also a constant on the boards for Seward, pulling down 10 or more rebounds in 9 different games and snatching 6 or more 23 times.

Brooks will join an Incarnate Word squad coming off of an 8-19 season under first year Head Coach Kate Henderson.  The Cardinals benefit from Brooks' veteran demeanor right away as Incarnate Word graduates six seniors from this year's team and returns just two players with more than one year of college playing experience.

Chapman was a 2nd Team All-Region and an Honorable Mention All-Region pick by the league's coaches.  Chapman was fourth on the team in scoring this season at 11.3 points per game and was second to Brooks in both rebounding and blocked shots with 7.5 and 1.3 per game respectively.  Chapman started 29 games for the Lady Saints after transferring from Boston College last season.  She had 19 games in which she scored in double figures and 9 games in which she had 10 or more rebounds.

Chapman will hope to continue the success that Southwestern Oklahoma State has had the past couple of seasons.  SWOSU was 19-11 in 2013-2014 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season under fifth year Head Coach Kelsi Musick.  Chapman joins a Bulldog recruiting class that includes three other transfers as well as four first time freshmen.
