Lady Saints Squeak by With Split Against Dodge City

Wednesday afternoon marked the final time of the 2024 season as the Seward County Lady Saints softball team honored their four sophomores before taking on Dodge City where despite a late comeback in game one that fell one run short, SCCC managed to hold strong for a game two win to split the doubleheader.

After seeing their win streak snapped on the road this past weekend, the Seward County Lady Saints softball team brought those struggles back home as they fell in a sweep to the Colby Trojans to start the final week of the regular season with nine errors between the two games against their Jayhawk rival.

Saturday afternoon the Seward County Lady Saints made a trip out to Hutchinson for a battle between two of the top three teams in the KJCCC where unfortunately the Lady Saints saw their win streak come to an end as they fell to the Blue Dragons in a doubleheader sweep on the road.

Seward County softball continued their win streak on Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep over the Pratt Beavers where in both games the two teams entered the seventh tied before the Lady Saints managed to squeak past their opponents to grow their win streak out to eight.

After leading the Seward County Lady Saints softball team to a perfect 6-0 week in Jayhawk conference action, Alyssa Morgan was named the KJCCC Player of the Week for the first time in her SCCC career as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Seward County grabbed win after win this past week with clean sweeps over Garden City and Barton in KJCCC action and continued their win streak on Saturday in Goodland where the Lady Saints scored 20+ runs in each game of the doubleheader to sweep the Mavericks of NW Kansas Tech with a run rule in each game.

Seward County reached their twentieth win of the 2024 season on Wednesday in a rematch against the Barton Cougars where the Lady Saints fell behind early in game one but charged back in front to overtake Barton in game one and then run rule the Cougars in game two to complete the sweep and win the season series 3-1.

Seward County made an hour-long trip on Monday morning towards Garden City and spent their time during the solar eclipse on the softball field for a doubleheader where some big home run bombs from Alyssa Morgan in the two games allowed the Lady Saints to sweep their conference rival and return home with two more wins under their belt.

Seward County stepped foot on French Family Field for their toughest matchup of the season as they faced the nationally ranked #17 Butler Grizzlies the Lady Saints defense kept them within reach through most of the day and even had game two all tied up before a final run from the Grizzlies allowed Butler to sweep SCCC at home.

A battle between two Jayhawk rivals in conference action led to a doubleheader split between the Lady Saint and Conqs in Dodge City as Seward County dropped game one after giving up eight runs in two innings but some big-time hits in game two led by a home run from Alyssa Morgan led to a 12-4 win to head back to Liberal, Kansas with a split.

Conference action has had a strong start for the Lady Saints of Seward County who continued their success on the road Wednesday afternoon with a doubleheader sweep over the Pratt Beavers as SCCC grabbed a 7-4 win in game one and a high scoring 18-13 win in game two behind four home run bombs to put them over the top.

After winning four straight games to begin conference action in the Jayhawk, the Seward County Lady Saints hit the road towards Great Bend where they faced off with the Barton Cougars and after holding strong in game one to grab a 9-7 win, they fell in game two 12-3 in five innings to split the doubleheader before returning home.
