Pratt's Prayers Answered, Half Court Buzzer Beater Ends Saints Season
March 08, 2014
There is never an easy way to lose a game that ends your season. Friday night in Koch Arena in Wichita, the Seward County Saints might have suffered the most stinging loss that they possibly could have. After a furious late game comeback which saw Seward tie the game with 3 seconds left, upstart Pratt launched a halfcourt prayer as time expired and unbelievably, the shot found its mark, swishing through the hoop in front of the Beaver fans to send Koch Arena into a frenzy and the Saints fans home still trying to figure out just how it happened. Pratt won the game 71-68, ending the Saints season in the semifinal round of the tournament while the Beavers will look to continue their magical run on Saturday as they take on Hutchinson in the championship game of the tournament.
Saints Survive in Quarterfinals
March 07, 2014
The Seward County Saints certainly didn't play their best on Thursday night in Koch Arena in Wichita as they took on the Neosho County Panthers in the Region VI Quarterfinals. The good news is, the Saints still managed to find a way to win, knocking off the Panthers 73-68 in what looked more like a black and blue division football game than a crisp game between two of the higher flying teams in the Jayhawk Conference.

Seward Demolishes Cowley in Rare Early Tournament Matchup
March 02, 2014
While we have come accustom to watching classic Seward County vs. Cowley matchups late in Region VI Tournament’s over the past few years, we certainly haven’t seen the two teams go head to head early in any of the March tournaments. But, with the Saints winning the Jayhawk West for a record fourth straight season and the Tigers coming out on the wrong end of a four way tie in the Jayhawk East standings, the date was set as Cowley game knocking on the Greenhouse doors Saturday in the Region VI First Round. The Saints were less than welcoming to their familiar foes, taking a 40-16 lead into the half before blowing the Tigers out of the water in the second half, coming away with a 82-39 laugher of a win to once again advance to the quarterfinal round of the tournament.
Saints Bring Home 4th Straight Jayhawk West Title
February 27, 2014
So maybe Saturday night’s regular season finale with Pratt didn’t have the pizazz for the Seward County Saints as it did last season when they battled it out with Hutchinson on the Greenhouse floor for the Jayhawk West title. However, even while Seward had basically nothing to play for, with the conference title and #1 seed from the West already locked up before the night began, the Saints came out with some spirit, coming from behind to down the Pratt Beavers 72-69 in the closing minutes before cutting down the Greenhouse nets for the fourth consecutive season as Jayhawk West Champions.
Saints Fall In Closing Seconds, Still Win Fourth Straight Jayhawk West Title
February 23, 2014
So it’s probably not exactly how they wanted to do it, but despite a last second 69-68 loss to Cloud County Saturday night at Bryant Gymnasium in Concordia, the Seward County Saints still managed to make Jayhawk Conference history by becoming the only four time consecutive outright Jayhawk West Champions in league history.

February 16, 2014
Seward fans that made the short trip to Dodge City on Saturday night for the Saints game with the Conquistadors might have noticed Boot Hill Casino next to United Wireless Arena. In their game with Dodge City the Saints certainly had the lucky hand, drilling the Conqs 88-59 on their home floor to win their seventh straight game against their Jayhawk West rivals.
Stevenson's Career Night Pushes Saints Past Garden
February 13, 2014
Seward County freshman Niem Stevenson’s back might be getting just a little bit sore, and it didn’t get any better Wednesday night in the Greenhouse as he once again put the Saints on his back, scoring a career high 36 points as Seward held on against rival Garden City for a 69-60 win to remain in the top spot in the Jayhawk West standings.
