63 Saints/Lady Saints Earn Way Onto AD Honor Roll

The 2015-2016 school year proved to be more than just a successful one on the court and in the fields for the Seward County student-athletes as Wednesday it was announced that 63 of 99 student-athletes made their way onto the Spring 2016 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
Saints Wrap Best Season in History With 6th Place Finish

The Seward County Saints wrapped up their best season in school history on Friday, collecting a pair of consolation bracket titles at the NJCAA National Tournament to finish in 6th place, their highest finish ever at the Spring classic.

The final two individual National Championship dreams for the Seward County Saints came to an abrupt end Thursday at the NJCAA National Tournament in Plano, Texas as Felipe Casares and Ngoni Makambwa were both upended in their semifinal matches to leave Seward in 6th place and without any players left fighting in the championship brackets.

In a busy day of action at the NJCAA National Tournament on Wednesday, a pair of Seward County Saints won their way to the semifinal round to keep the Saints in 6th place at days end as Felipe Casares and Ngoni Makambwa took care of business, putting themselves within one win of having the chance to play for a National Championship Friday.

After a rather uneventful day one Monday at the NJCAA National Tournament in Plano, Texas, the Seward County Saints made their first big push on Tuesday, collecting seven wins to jump four spots in the tournament standings to #6 with 20.5 points overall.

After battling to a 5-4 decision just five days prior at Blue Bonnet Park in Liberal, the #4 Seward County Saints and #7 Cowley Tigers hooked up once again on Saturday in the 3rd place match of the Seminole State Dual Match Classic in Oklahoma City. Like Monday’s one point Cowley win, the Tigers took another 5-4 battle with the Saints Saturday to hand Seward its fourth loss in its past five matches after a 12-0 start.
Saints Split First Two Against Top 15 Foes in OKC

The #4 Seward County Saints were ready for the calendar to turn over on Friday. After all, following a 12-0 start to the season, the Saints had lost two straight to close out March. They flipped the calendar over Friday morning and flipped a ‘W’ back into the win column, downing #13 New Mexico Military 6-3 in Oklahoma City, but were hammered in their second match of the day against #3 Tyler, falling 9-0 to drop into the 3rd place match at the Seminole State Dual Match Classic.

After getting off to a 12-0 start, the #4 Seward County Saints have hit a minor speed bump, losing their second straight match in heartbreaking 5-4 fashion Wednesday afternoon in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to NAIA #13 Ouachita Baptist.
