Aggies Upend Saints 7-2

The Seward County Saints were unable to break a three match losing streak on the road in Wichita Falls, Texas on Saturday falling 7-2 to NCAA Division II #12 Cameron to drop their sixth match in the past two weeks. 

 

The dual Saturday between the Saints and Aggies opened with doubles play.  Cameron quickly took a 2- 0 lead in the match, getting 8-2 and 8-3 wins at #1 and #3 against the Saints.  Seward battled at #2 behind Alex Mosehle and Ngoni Makambwa, but eventually came up short against the 4th ranked duo in Division II 9-8 to give the Aggies a 3-0 lead into singles. 

 

Carlos Anez played the match of the day at #1 for the Saints, battling Dennis Merdan to a 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 victory.  Mosehle and Przemek Zielinski both took 6-3, 6-3 losses at #2 and #3 to seal the match for the Aggies as they took a 5-1 lead.  Ondrej Nice snapped a five match losing streak with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #4, but Cameron picked up the points at #5 and #6 to finish off a 7-2 win over Seward. 

 

The Saints fall to 13-6 on the year, dropping their fourth straight and sixth in their past seven matches.  Cameron improves to 13-4 on the year with the victory. 

 

Seward will look to get back on track on Monday as they take on Hesston in a road dual before heading back home for a date with Southwestern Christian Tuesday.
