Saints Wrap Best Season in History With 6th Place Finish

The Seward County Saints wrapped up their best season in school history on Friday, collecting a pair of consolation bracket titles at the NJCAA National Tournament to finish in 6th place, their highest finish ever at the Spring classic.

It was somewhat of a surprising final in the #1 consolation draw as Seward's Carlos Anez, ranked 6th in the country, took on region rival and 7th ranked Vincent Reynaud of Cowley.  Anez flexed his muscles for the second time in as many weeks against Reynaud, blasting the Tigers star 8-1 in a no drama win to finish his freshman season as the consolation bracket champion in the top draw.

The Saints #1 doubles duo was also in action on Friday as Przemek Zielinski and Felipe Casares teamed in the finals to battle another Region VI rival in Hesston's Lefevre/Kingsley combo. Seward's top pair had little trouble with the Larks, running away to an 8-2 win to claim their hardware with a consolation title.

Seward finished the tournament with 26 total points, easily enough for a 6th place finish, the Saints best finish in school history.  ASA Miami claimed the title with 47 points while Seminole State made a push to knock off the Silver Storm with 45 points.  Seward's Jayhawk Conference rival Cowley, finished 8th
