Saints Weekend Preview

Liberal Kan. - With 4 of the Saints programs on the road this weekend it begins the busy travel schedule for coaches and players alike. The sophomores on the Baseball team will be in Wichita, the Men's and Women's Tennis teams will be in Oklahoma City, and the volleyball team will be competing in Las Vegas, Nevada. Covering 3 states here is a preview for what it will in tail for the Saints and what to look forward to. 

This weekends Baseball trip to Wichita will be one for the just the Sophomores as it is an opportunity for the Sophomores to gain exposure with 4 year programs and coaches. All nine of the sophomores will travel to Wichita to participate in the pro style work outs but only five will partake in the All Star Game. Steven Craddock, KP Werner, Zane Alexander, AJ Folds, and Grant Wyatt will suit up for the All Star East team. Our own Austin King will be an Assistant Coach for the All Star East team and will provide assistance during the game. Coach Mike Davidson will also make the journey to Wichita this weekend and he always looks forward to this event. "A chance to see all the coaches in the Jayhawk, around the country, and friends that are pro scouts." Coach Davidson added, "Great opportunity to network for our kids and for Future Saints players." The All Star game will be Saturday September 14th starting at 9AM CT on the Wichita State University field.

After last weekends success in Tyler the Tennis programs will be back on the courts in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The women's Tennis Team will be bringing five players this weekend as they will be bring a similar line up they had in Tyler with them again this weekend. Lucia Popluharova, Liz Aristizabal, Mitzy Enderink, Hilary Alfaro, and Marily Jimenez will all be in action during this weekends OKC Invintational. As for the Men's side after winning 5 championships in doubles last weekend will also be traveling this weekend with most of the same players in Karl Wurth, Raul Centeno, Fransisco Vargas, Juan Gonzales, Valentine Ortiz, Oscar Ortiz, Fabian Van Huffel and adding in Tuur Vos. As the Tennis programscontinue their fall schedule we will be keeping all of you updated on how they performed this weekend. in OKC. They will be on the courts starting tomorrow September 13th and again September 14th for the final day of the event.

Volleyball this weekend will be traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada ofr the Southern Nevada Tournament. This weekend is a true test for the Volleyball team as they will face off against two of the top 10 teams in the nation and also the reigning Nation Champions. Friday September 13th will be the toughest on paper match ups of the year, with the Lady Saints taking on the no. 4 team in the nation Miami Dade. Miami Dade currently with an overall record of 7-1, with their one loss coming against College of Central Florida 3-2 final. The No. 1 Lady Saints and No. 4 Miami Dade will face off at 1pm CT on the main court and you will be able to watch the feed through the College of Southern Nevada athletic page. Friday evening the Lady Saints have a meeting with No. 8 Salt Lake Community College (12-1), another top 10 match up back to back. The Bruins only lose coming in a match vs. Miami Dade earlier this season, losing 3-0. This match up will be at 7PM CT and will be streamed on the Seward Volleyball Facebook page, as this match will be in a different location then the first match of the day. 

Saturday at the tournament will not be any easier as the Lady Saints will take on Parkland College, who is currently 10-0 on the season and have only lost 4 sets all season. This match will be on Saturday September 14th at 12PM CT in the main gym and will be streamed through the College of Southern Nevada Athletic page. The final match of the weekend will be a match up that the returning sophomores and Seward fans will be looking forward to the most and it will be against College of Southern Idaho (7-6). with a rematch against the reigning Nation Champions and the ones  who defeated the Lady Saints last year in the National Tournaments Semifinals. Always when you play 4 matches in 2 days you will be tired but with this extra momentum the Lady Saints will be ready for action on Saturday. The match will start at 4PM CT in the secondary gym which we will be streaming on our Seward Volleyball Facebook Page. 4 programs all spread out in 3 different states we will have a lot of Student Athletes representing Seward County Community College on a competitive level. This time spent traveling is all worth it for what is a head for these players and coaches with all of these different sporting events in action this weekend it will be another great weekend to be Green!
