Lady Saints Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

Liberal, Kan- Lady Saints prove their dominance in the Jayhawk West Conference as they defeat Colby Community College in three straight sets. Both teams were tied in the Jayhawk west Conference standings 6-0 but the Lady Saints would claim the sole spot on top of the Jayhawk West.

First set the Lady Saints came out with an early eight to five lead. Again, as if on cruise control the Lady Saints would win 12 out of the next 17 points to take a dominating 20 to 10 lead. With just five points to go to win the first set the Lady Saints would lose 4 straight points but would still claim the first set 25 to 16. Leading the team in kills for the first set was freshman Yanlis Feliz with 5 kills in the first set.

Starting off the second set the Lady Saints would jump out a head of the Trojans six to one. With the momentum on their side they would expand the lead to an impressive 16 to seven set two lead. After 15 more points the Lady Saints would win the second set 25 to 12. Yanlis Feliz once again lead the Lady Saints in the second set with 6 kills and Djuly Schmorantz had 5 kills in the set.

Entering the third set with two sets of dominance in the past the Lady Saints would go down one to zero to start off, but the small deficit did not last long. They would respond with jumping out in front a 17 to nine lead. The outside hitting performance seemed to be to much for the Trojans with the Lady Saints winning the third and final set 25-15. The freshman Yanlis Feliz also lead the team in kills in the third set with 4 and Djuly Schmorantz and Ariana Arciniega were tied with 3 kills in the set.

Having this victory under their belt the Lady Saints will have confidence and the best record in the conference for the first time this season. Yanlis Feliz lead the team with 16 kills and 2 errors on 22 attempts for a hit percentage of .636 that is the spot light player of the match. The next match will be with a Jayhawk West opponent in Butler Community College on Saturday September 28th back in the Greenhouse.
