Machado continues volleyball career at Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff

LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County Community College volleyball player Nathiellen Machado has signed with Division I University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

The 5-foot-6 sophomore from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil played in all 39 matches this past season and was named Jayhawk West Honorable Mention. Machado, who played libero, led the Lady Saints with 597 digs, good for fifth all-time in a single season, and finished her SCCC career with 1,054 digs, fourth-most in school history.

Machado will join the Golden Lions, who finished 6-12 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference and 8-21 overall.

The Lady Saints finished the season with a 32-7 record and a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament. The fourth-place finish in the best in program history, topping the 5th place finishes from 1999 and 2000.  It also marked the first time Seward had reached the Final Four.
