Above the Net With... Carolina Freitas

Our eighth Above the Net feature of the 2014 season is from Carolina Freitas. Freitas is a 5'11 middle hitter from Mogi das Cruzes, Sao Paulo, Brazil and has entitled her entry It's Sophomore Night!

Hey Lady Saint Fans!!! I am Carolina Freitas and I can't believe another season is coming to an end. I am very happy that I am closing my second year with a green and white heart this year at Seward. I have had so many experiences this year with five freshmen and nine sophomores. Every practice and every game was a great experience for me.

This year started very differently than last. Our preseason started with hard workouts in the weight room making me stronger and this made me have better potential on the court. Last year I injured my finger during the season and I had a low performance on the court. I am glad that this year started on the right foot on the court and I have been able to play much better. I want to say Thanks to Coach Luallen for everything he taught me and for supporting me and helping me improve myself. This season went very fast, it is very sad to think that we are in our last couple of weeks, but I am very happy for learning from all of these experiences and growing the whole time I've been here in Liberal.

I just would like to end my season by thanking all our fans who came to our games and all of Seward's students, teachers, coaches, and of course Coach B and Coach Lu who believed and trusted in me. Thanks to my teammates who are always encouraging me, my host family Greg and Lydia Augustine for always giving me all the support I needed and of course my Brazilian family who supported me in everything. I am so grateful to have this opportunity to get out on the court and represent the Lady Saints Volleyball team and be the best I could be. I feel so blessed by God to be able to play on such a talented team. I close with two words, THANK YOU.

I hope to see everyone cheering for us tonight on Sophomore Night at 6:30 PM as we take on Cloud County for our last ever match in the Greenhouse.
