Lady Saints Host Tri Match Tuesday

TEAM PREVIEWS:  SEWARD COUNTY- Tonight marks one of two tuneup matches for the Lady Saints before they embark on their journey in the Region VI Tournament one week from tonight here in the Greenhouse.  The Lady Saints earned their 20th win of the season last Thursday on the road at Pratt, marking their 22nd straight season with 20 or more wins.   They sit at 20-13 overall and finished Jayhawk West play at 10-4, good for 3rd place. Tonight will be the final regular season home match for a pair of Lady Saints and Annelise Sanchezand Morgan Riley will look to go out with a bang.  Sanchez currently ranks 8th in the Jayhawk West with 308 kills on the season and is one of just four players in the conference with 300 or more kills and 250 or more digs on the year.  Riley leads the league with 127 blocks this season and ranks 12th with 205 kills. 

 

GARDEN CITY- The Lady Busters will look to get things on track against Otero after losing 7 of their last 10 matches coming into tonight.  Garden City sits at 8-20 overall and finished their Jayhawk West slate 4-10, good for 6th place which has them coming back here to Liberal next Tuesday for the Region VI Tournament 1st round.  The most veteran team in the Jayhawk West, Garden City has six sophomores on their roster including Chinasa Ekweariri who leads the conference  and ranks 4th in the country with 1.52 blocks per set.

 

OTERO- The Lady Rattlers make the long trip East to take on a pair of familiar foes in Seward County and Garden City tonight.  Otero has taken on both Seward and Garden twice this season, splitting with each team.  The Lady Rattlers are 22-12 on the season and sit tied for 3rd in the Region IX South standings at 4-5 with one match to go.  Sophomore Emma Feierabend has led the Rattlers to a 20 win season in 2013, leading the team in both kills with 3.24 per set and blocks with 0.88 per set.
