Seward Dominates Four Year Competition in Dallas

Despite playing against a host of four year schools on Friday in Dallas, the #10 Seward County Lady Saints Tennis team remained perfect on the season at 7-0 with a trio of dominating wins. 

 

The Lady Saints opened a busy day Friday with a battle against Texas Wesleyan University.  They took an early 2-1 lead in the match following doubles play as Thalita Rodrigues and Nthabi Mogopodi picked up an 8-3 win at #2 and Madison Hoelting and Tadi Mrewa won a tough 8-6 battle at #3.  Seward dominated singles action, sweeping all six spots including a 6-0, 6-0 blanking by Maminiaina Rakotondrazafy at #3 and a three set win from Hoelting at #6 to secure an 8-1 match victory for the Lady Saints. 

 

#10 SEWARD COUNTY/TEXAS WESLEYAN MATCH RESULTS

 

In their second match of the day, the Lady Saints took on fellow Sunflower State squad Southwestern College.  Mixing their lineup around from their first match of the day, Seward still continued to roll.  The Lady Saints swept through doubles action with Mogopodi and Rodrigues breezing to an 8-3 win at #1 and Alba Payeras and Crizta Goslin doing the same at #3 for Seward.  The Lady Saints had no problem in singles action either with Rodrigues blanking Nya Cheatham 8-0 at #1 while Yennifer Delgado and Goslin did the same at #5 and #6 to cinch the match up for the gals in green.  Seward went on to win all six singles spots to take an easy 9-0 win over the Moundbuilders. 

 

#10 SEWARD COUNTY/SOUTHWESTERN MATCH RESULTS

 

To wrap up a three match day, Seward went up against the University of the Southwest out of Hobbs, New Mexico.  Once again, solid play in doubles pushed the Lady Saints out to a comfortable lead early.  The #1 doubles pair of Rakotondrazafy/Rakotondrazafy swung their way to an 8-1 win for Seward's first point while the Lady Saints battled for wins at #2 and #3 to move in front 3-0 in the match.  Singles play was completely dominated by Seward County as Mialianiaina Rakotondrazafy breezed to a 6-0, 6-2 win at #1 while Rodrigues won a 6-2, 6-0 decision at #2 for the Lady Saints.  Seward continued to put it on the Ponies from #3 to #6, finishing off their second straight sweep to win 9-0.

 

#10 SEWARD COUNTY/UNIV. OF THE SOUTHWEST MATCH RESULTS

 

The wins take Seward to a perfect 7-0 on the year marking its best start in program history.  The Lady Saints will continue action in Dallas on Saturday with matches against Texas A&M Texarkana and North Central Texas as they look to move to 9-0.
