Thompson and Gutierrez named Honorable Mention All-KJCCC

LIBERAL, Kan. - Two Lady Saints have been named to the KJCCC All-Conference/Region VI team as Ashanti Thompson and Aaliyah Gutierrez have earned honorable mention honors. Thompson and Gutierrez were key pieces at the top of the Seward County lineup, splitting time in the field and on the mound. 

Ashanti Thompson, a sophomore outfielder and pitcher, earned the honors as an outfielder. She ranked second on the team with a .384 batting average while having an on-base percentage of .425. Thompson recorded 48 hits, 10 doubles, 5 homeruns and drove in 22 runs. On the mound, Thompson pitched 30 innings with a 1-2 record in 17 appearances. In the field, Ashanti had 44 putouts and 9 assists with a fielding percentage of .883. 

Aaliyah Gutierrez, a freshman pitcher and utility player was the leadoff hitter for the Lady Saints and in that role batted .292. Gutierrez stole 34 bases and scored 50 runs while batting in 24 runs. Gutierrez had an on-base percentage of .365 with 49 hits and 15 walks recorded. On the mound, Aaliyah pitched 102 innings with a 6.52 ERA with 51 strikeouts. Gutierrez had a record of 4-14 in 28 appearances. In the field Gutierrez had 47 putouts and 30 assists with a .895 fielding percentage. Gutierrez is honored as honorable mention at the utility spot. 

Gutierrez's 34 stolen bases rank fourth for a single season in Lady Saints history and top ten for career stolen bases.
