The Saints split with Dodge City in Liberal

LIBERAL, Kan. - Seward County Community College hosted Dodge City Community College on Thursday, April 21st, and split with the Conquistadors with a 4-1 game one loss and a game two victory 10-4. The Saints won the series against the Conquistadors 3-1 this season and will be back in action on Saturday at Pratt Community College.

GAME 1 

The Saints had one run on five hits and one error in the 4-1 loss to the Beavers.

Seward County fell behind 4-0 after the fourth inning and scored one run in the fifth inning. Macy Cesa-Spearman scored the only run off of an error by Pratt. 

Ireland Caro led things off in the circle and lasted four innings, allowing three hits and four runs. Molly Adams threw three innings in relief.

Vivien Gabehart led Seward County with two hits in two at-bats.

GAME 2

Seward county scored in every inning in the second game on Thursday en route to a 10-4 victory.

The Saints fired up the offense in the first inning, when Beth Denney grounded out, to score one run. Seward County went on to even things up at two in the bottom of the second inning as Paris Brienesse drew a walk, scoring one run.

After Dodge City scored two runs in the top of the fifth, Seward County answered with two of their own. Madeline Pack doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run and Denney followed up with a fielder choice RBI as the Saints led 8-4.

The Saints pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third, an error scored one run for Seward Saints Softball 2022 and Ashley Low singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Ellie Stember pitched to a victory as she went five innings, allowing four runs on six hits. Ireland Caro threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Seward County totaled 11 hits in the game. Low, Pack, and Denney each racked up multiple hits for Seward Saints Softball 2022. Low went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Saints

The Saints will head to Pratt Community College for a doubleheader on Saturday.
