Bio

Zach Cave enters his second year with the Saints for the 2024-25 season.

During his first season in Liberal, Kansas, Cave helped the Saints through a year of growing pains as Seward County finished the season with an 8-23 overall record while going 6-18 in KJCCC action for a 12th place finish. Cave helped coach multiple four-year signees that made their way to as high as the Division II level and also helped Mathias M’Madi improve his game throughout the season to earn All­-KJCCC Honorable Mention honors.

Cave has over a decade of coaching experience at multiple levels with his last stop being as an Assistant coach for the Kigali Titans of the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL, Division 2). During his time in Rwanda, Coach Cave oversaw small groups and individual training while organizing practices and handling team events.

Before his second stop in Rwanda, Cave spent two seasons as the Assistant Coach at Benedictine University – Mesa. During his time in Phoenix, AZ, he helped the team clinch a berth to the 2021-22 NAIA Tournament behind star center Maurice Walton. Under Coach Cave’s guidance, Walton was an NAIA All-American, two-time All-Conference, and 2021-22 Cal Pac Tournament MVP. Cave also worked with another big in Tanner Crawford who broke the school record for blocks in back-to-back seasons. While at Benedictine, Cave handled film breakdowns, player development and team operations.

While at Benedictine, Cave split time in Rwanda as the Kigali Titans (RBL Division 1) Head Coach from May of 2022 to August of 2022. He handled all team roster management, domestic and international sponsorships, team training and individual training. Prior to his stint with the Titans, Cave also spent time on the coaching staff of the IPRC Musanze in the RBL.

Prior to his coaching in Rwanda, Cave spent time coaching in Minnesota as the Assistant Boys Varsity Coach for Park Cottage Grove High School (PCGHS). He spent two seasons at PCGHS (2018-20) after spending the previous two seasons (2016-18) as the Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Hmong College Prep Academy in St. Paul, MN.

While in Minnesota and coaching at the high school level, Cave spent time as the Co-Director and Coach of Minnesota Select Basketball from 2016-2020. His duties included facilitating rosters, managing budget for 20-25 teams per AAU season, and scheduling team travel and logistics.

Assistant Coach Zachary Cave is the oldest of five kids to Molly and James Cave with his brother Eli Cave currently plays professional basketball overseas.
