The Saints turn their attention to the Region VI Tournament

COFFEYVILLE, Kan. - Seward County Community College fell in their final regular season game at No. 19 Coffeyville Community College 94-68 on Saturday night. The Saints will finish the regular season with a 13-17 record and 9-15 in the KJCCC. Their will be one last regular season game for the rest of the conference this Wednesday, and we will not know where the Saints will play in the first round of the Region VI tournament until Wednesday evening. Jaylin Henderson led the Saints with 24 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Blessin Kimble had 11 points, and six rebounds, and Wilson Dubinsky added 10. 

At the first media timeout in the first half, the Saints and the Red Ravens were tied at 9-9 with 13:26 left in the half. Coffeyville came out of the timeout with an 11-1 run to take a 20-10 advantage after a mid-range jumper. Seward County cut the Coffeyville lead down to two points, 21-19, with seven minutes left in the contest after a Henderson free throw. 

With five minutes left in the first half, the Red Ravens went on a 7-0 run to lead 28-19 over the Saints. With a three by Dubisky put Seward County down six, 37-31, but Coffeyville closed out the half on a 10-2 run to lead 47-33 at the break.

Coffeyville started the second half with a 7-0 run to take a commanding lead of 54-33. Seward County traded off baskets and, with 12 minutes left, trailed 46-68 after a three-pointer by Nathan Jones. Henderson cut the lead down to 15 points with an and-1, 54-69, with nine minutes left. 

With under two minutes left in the contest, the Saints faced their most significant deficit as Coffeyville led 91-64. Seward County fell 94-68 at Coffeyville as they split the series this season. 

The Saints will wait for their opponent as they start Region VI on the road on Saturday, March 4th.
