Seward County fall to Polk State 77-69

BRADENTON, Flo. -  Seward County Community College's men's basketball team fell to Polk State College 77-69 in Bradenton, Florida on Wednesday night. The Saints battled back from a 12 point deficit to get within two points 71-69 in the final minutes but could not overcome the late Eagle surge. Seward County drops to 6-7 on the season and will have another game tonight against the host team State College of Florida at 6 PM CT. 

In the first half, the Saints took their first lead after a reverse layup by Erik Pratt to lead the Eagles 8-7 in the first four minutes of action. Seward County took a 21-18 advantage after a pair of threes but the Eagles responded with a 9-0 run to take a 27-21 lead. With a minute left in the half, the Saints tied the game at 31 all and Polk State scored seven points in the final minute to lead 38-31 at halftime.

To start the final half of the game, the Eagles extended their lead and led 56-49 with 12:24 on the clock. Seward County faced their largest deficit of the game as the Eagles took a 69-55 with six minutes left in the game. After a 6-0 run by the Saints, the lead was cut down to six points 69-63 with four minutes left. With two minutes remaining the Saints trailed 71-69 but went scoreless for the remainder of the game as the Eagles claimed the vi tory 77-69.

Seward County will look to bounce back tonight December 30th, at 6 PM CT at State College of Florida.
