Elijah Bear honored as conference and NJCAA player of the week

LIBERAL, Kan. – Congratulations are due for slugger Elijah Bear as he was honored as not only the KJCCC Player of the Week, but also as the NJCAA Division 1 Baseball player of the Week this week. Elijah Bear had a stellar weekend to propel the Saints to 5 victories on their win-streak, which sits at 8 games. Bear went 17-24 (.708), smacked 5 doubles and hit 4 homeruns while driving in 20 runs and crossing the plate 17 times himself. On the week, Elijah posted a .750 on-base percentage while slugging over 1.400 with 0 strikeouts recorded.

This national honor marks the 2nd time a Saints' baseball student-athlete has been named NJCAA Player of the Week. First, it was pitcher Brian Luna Alvarez earlier in the season and now Elijah Bear. This duo along with a host of other Saints have helped propel the Saints to a 20-18 overall record and 10-6 in the KJCCC. The Saints currently sit on an 8-game win streak and will head to Great Bend, KS tomorrow, April 6th to take on the #9 Barton Cougars. Action will begin at 1 PM & 3 PM CT on Thursday with the series finishing up at Brent Gould Field on Saturday, April 15th at 1 PM & 3PM CT.
