LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County men's soccer dropped its conference opener, 4-0, to No. 7 ranked Barton at Redskin Field on Wednesday evening.
The Saints (2-1-0, 0-1-0 KJCCC) allowed two goals in each half for the seventh ranked Cougars (3-1-1, 1-0-0). It marked the first loss of the season for the Saints.
Barton scored first in the eighth minute but the Saints defense held them off for a majority of the second half until a goal in the 35th minute made it 2-0. The Cougars made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute and added the fourth goal in the final minute of the game.
Four Saints finished with shots on goal while goalkeeper Miguel Kwiatkowski finished with five saves and the four goals allowed.
The game saw 10 cards issued including three red cards, two on Barton.
Seward returns to action on Saturday, hosting the No. 4 ranked Cowley Tigers at 7 p.m. from Redskin Field.
