Lady Saints Roll in Home Opening

Lady Saints Roll in Home Opening

Liberal Kan.- For the first time all season the Lady Saints did not have to board a bus to compete as they would be competing in the Greenhouse for the first time all season. The excitement could be felt bouncing off the gym floor with each warm up routine done by the Lady Saints.

In the first set the Conquistadors were battling early showing their readiness right off the bus. Both teams would be tied at 5's and again at 9's but that is when the Lady Saints got into their comfort zone and created a large lead. Lady Saints would go on to take the first set 25-15. Two Saints players in Yanlis Feliz who was named Player of the Week in the KJCCC and Djuly Schmorantz would tie with 5 kills a piece in the first set.

Entering the 2nd set the Lady Saints would keep their momentum going and would feed off of the crowd's energy. They would come out to a commanding 8-3 lead to force Coach Williams from Dodge City to take a timeout. After the timeout Asia Jhun would continue to serve and win 7 consecutive points to extend the lead to 15-3. There was no looking back after that as the 2nd set would once again go to the Lady Saints 25-9. Mesalina Severino would lead the Lady Saints in kills with 3, on only 3 attempts in the second set.

Heading into the 3rd set the Lady Saints were feeling right at home and with their eyes on the prize the determination and the power they have would give them a 9-1 lead. The final set would be all Lady Saints as they would win 25-3, as this is the lowest amount of points the Lady Saints allowed all season. It was a dominant performance in the 3rd set and one the Lady Saints were looking for to get back on track. Djuly Schmorantz lead the team in kills in the third and final set with 5.

Being back at home is something unique and rare as the Lady Saints only have 7 more home matches left in the regular season. Being able to showcase this team's talent in front of the Saints faithful for the first time all season did not disappoint with a 3-0 sweep. Now the No. 4 Lady Saints are 10-2 and 4-0 in the Jayhawk West Conference. Next game will be this Saturday at Barton College starting at 2pm central time. They will be back in the Greenhouse on Monday September 23rd at 6:30pm and will host Pratt College. Come on out and support this fun and talented Lady Saints team.
