Seward Saints Tennis Win First Conference Match

LIBERAL, Kan. – The Seward County Saints open up conference play with a 8-1 win over the Barton Cougars at home. The men start conference play undefeated and are 10-1 overall for spring play.

Seward County tennis was able to play some new doubles teams against the Cougars. All of the teams defeated their opponets 8-2. First to finish was No.2 Benji Finet and Renato Santos who won against Miguel Valle and Jack Peoples. Next was No.3 Jaffe Infante and Diego Freire who won against Thales Machado De Souza and Tinashe Muzenyi. Final to finish was No.1 team Duro Opacic and Tim Lamare who won against Marcel Miasato and Yordi Ponce.

Saints finish doubles play with a 3-0 lead over Barton. Seward County also played with the lineup for singles play and it seemed to pay off against Barton. First to finish was No.2 Santos who won both matches 6-2. Following him was No.6 Sebastian Hernandez who had the only loss on the day 3-6, 3-6 but fought two hard matches against Muzenyi. Seward's next clinching match to finish was No.1 Franck Soulerot who walked away with a win 6-0, 6-4.

The final three to finish was No.3, No.4, and No.5. At No.3 was Freire who won his matches 6-2, 6-0, then Infante won his matches at No.4 6-0, 6-1, and finally No.5 Panos Vlachonikolos finished with a win over Machado De Souza 6-2, 6-2.

The Saints tennis team's next match will be Wednesday at home at Bluebonnet Park, against Southeastern Oklahoma State starting at 1:00 pm.
