Seward County falls at Coffeyville 67-45 in the Region VI Tournament

COFFEYVILLE, Kan. - Seward County Community College falls at Coffeyville Community College 67-45 in the first round of the Region VI Tournament on Saturday night. The Saints trailed 27-25at halftime but the Red Ravens' offense came out strong to start the second half. Seward County ends their season with an 11-20 record and will enter the off-season.

The Saints' defense started off strong as they held the Red Ravens to just two points after four minutes of action as the Saints led 4-2. With 6:30 left in the first half, the Saints trailed 13-12 as their defense continued to give the Red Ravens problems. Seward County trailed 25-17 with two minutes left before halftime and the Saints went on a 7-2 run to end the first half. At the break, the Saints trailed 27-24.

Seward County went scoreless for the first time minutes of the second half as Coffeyville went on a 16-0 run to lead 43-24. This run became the difference in the contest as the Saints could not cut into the Red Ravens lead. Seward County was outscored 40-21 in the second half as Coffeyville claimed the victory 67-45.

The Saints were led by Wilson Dubinsky with 13 points, Harvin Ibarguen added 12 points of his own. Branton "Bee" McCrary had 11 points as McCrary concludes his three-year stint with Seward County.

Seward County ends the 2021-22 season with an 11-20 overall record and will prepare for the off-season.
