The Saints fall to the No. 23 Trojans 84-54

COLBY, Kan. - Seward County Community College falls to No. 23 Colby Community College 84-54 on Sunday, January 23rd. The Saints trailed the Trojans 41-21 at halftime and could not overcome the first-half deficit. Seward County is now 8-12 on the season and 5-9 in conference play. The Saints will be back in the Greenhouse this Wednesday, January 26th, to take on No. 6 Dodge City Community College at 8 PM.

Early in the first half, the Saints took a 4-2 lead after a slam dunk by Kevon Cooper with 16:32 on the clock. Colby responded with a 17-2 run to jump out ahead of Seward County 19-6 halfway through the opening half. The Saints answered with an 8-2 run to cut the lead down to 21-14 after Branton "Bee" McCrary went coast-to-coast and finished with a layup. The Trojans took a 20 point lead, 38-18 after a free throw with two minutes left. Seward County went into halftime down 41-21 to Colby.

To start the second half the Saints trailed 49-23 rallied for a 9-2 run and found themselves down 51-32. Colby went on to take a 31 point advantage after a pair of free throws to lead 57-36. Halfway through the second half, the Saints Ky'lyn "KD" Arnett connected on a corner three as Seward County trailed 61-43. 

The Trojans continued their high-power offense as they shot 52% from the field and 45% from behind the three-point line. The Saints' offense could not find a rhythm as Seward County fell 84-54 on the road in Colby, Kansas.

Seward County was led by Tay Donald's career and season-high 20 point performance. Harvin Ibarguen added 10 points and five rebounds, while Branton "Bee" McCrary had 8 points in the contest.

The Saints are back at home on January 26th to take on the No. 6 Conquistadors at 8 PM.
