Saints fall to No. 7 Blue Dragons 81-66

LIBERAL, Kan. - Seward County Community College falls to No. 7 Hutchinson Community College 81-66 in the Greenhouse on Saturday night. The Saints tied the game at 43-43 in the second half but could not take the lead from the Blu Dragons as Hutchinson responded with a 10-2 run to separate themselves from Seward County. On Monday the Saints will travel to Dodge City Community College to take on the Conquistadors at 7 PM CT.

In the first half, the Saints took an early lead 13-12 over the Blue Dragons after a pair of free throws by Raliek Redd. Hutchinson answered with a 9-0 run to regain the lead 21-13 with 13:16 left in the half. Branton "Bee" McCrary helped Seward County tie the game at 22 all after an and-1 to cap the Saints 9-1 run. Both teams scored just two points apiece in the final two minutes of the half as Seward County went into halftime down 41-37.

Seward County once again tied the game in the second half 43-43 after a layup by Harvin Ibarguen with 16:39 left in the contest. The Blue Dragons once again responded with a 10-2 run to take a 53-45 lead over the Saints. With 2:11 left in the game, the Saints cut the lead down to 69-60 and looked to make a final push. Hutchinson went on to outscore Seward County 12-6 as the Saints lost 81-66.

The Saints were led by Harvin Ibarguen with 19 points, nine rebounds, and shot 9-10 from the field. McCrary added 14 points, and Tay Donald had 11 points of his own. 

Seward County will take on Dodge City on Monday, January 10th at 7 PM for their makeup game.
