The Saints fall at Garden City 96-83

GARDEN CITY, Kan. - Seward County Community College falls at Garden City Community College 96-83 on Wednesday night. The Saints drop to 4-6 on the year and 2-4 in conference play which has them tied for seventh in the KJCCC with five other programs. Seward County will be back at it on Saturday to take on Cowley College in the Greenhouse at 8 PM.

Early in the game, the Saints tied it at 5-5 after a Malachi McReed jump shot in the lane with 17:38 left in the first half. The Saints took the lead with a Taye Donald three at 13-11 over the Broncbusters with 13:32 left. Seward County had their largest lead of the game with a 26-20 advantage with 6 minutes remaining in the half. The Broncbusters went on an 18-2 run to take a 38-28 lead with 2:36 left on the clock as the Saints Head Coach Rylee Hernandez called a timeout. At halftime, Seard County trailed 42-34 to Garden City.

In the second half, Seward County cut the lead down to eight points with Donald layup as Garden City led 53-45. With ten minutes left in the second half, the Saints found themselves down by 15 points 68-53 as the offensive struggles continued. Garden City took their largest lead of the game with an 87-63 advantage of Seward County. The Saints started to get their offense established but it was too late in the second half as the Broncbusters held on to win 96-83.

The Saints were led by Jaylin Henderson with a career-high 21 points. McReed and Donald added 15 points apiece, and Wilson Dubinsky had 11 points for Seward County.
