Saints unable to to get past the Panthers

LIBERAL, Kan. - Seward County Community College men's basketball team lost at Neosho County Community College 77-72 and fall to 2-3 overall and in conference play. The Saints battled back from 13 down to take the lead at 54-53 with 9 minutes left in the game but the Panthers closed out the game from the free-throw line and outrebounded Seward in crunch time. 

To start the game the Saints started off hot with a quick 7-2 lead but the Panthers responded to tie it up at 12 all. The score continued to go back and forward until the Saints trailed 24-21 and the Panthers went on to close out the first half with a 39-30 advantage over the Saints. 

In the second half, the Panthers took their largest lead of the game with a 45-39 lead early on in the half. Seward responded with a 10-4 run to tie things back up at 49 all with their defense creating offensive opportunities. Saints took the lead for the first time since the score was 12-10 with a 54-53 lead and this was the last time the Saints had the lead. The Panthers fought back and regained a 59-54 and held the Saints off for the remainder of the game. 

Seward County will take on Independence tomorrow with a quick turnaround at 4 pm in Independence, Kansas.
