Seward County defeats Butler in the Greenhouse

LIBERAL, Kan. - Seward County Community College men's basketball team defeats Butler Community College 86-74 in the Greenhouse on Thursday night (February 11th, 2021). Saints improve to 2-2 on the year and with a .500 record in conference play, they sit in third place in the Jayhawk West. Kevon Cooper Seward County with 21 points, six rebounds, and Samuel Henderson added 17 points and four rebounds.

In the first half, the Saints battled back and forth with the Grizzlies and started off took an early 26-24 lead with 6 minutes left in the half. To close out the remainder of the half Seward County put together an 11-4 and led Butler 37-28. Saints shot 41% from the field and 35% from behind the three-point line.

To start the second half Seward put together an early run to expand their lead over the Grizzlies. With less than 7 minutes to go the lead expanded to 20 points with a 70-50 advantage for the Saints. Seward shot 53% from the field in the second half and went 50% from behind the three-point line. 

Next week the Saints will face off against Jayhawk East opponents for the final week starting with Cloud County Community College on Wednesday in the Greenhouse at 8 pm.
